What is Patent?

Patent is one of the main actor that causes confusion in Turkey. Because of this current situation we have to drill down on this issue.
Among the population, trade mark patent or patent are used for trademark registration. The main reason for this confusion is, the name of the Turkish registration office is Turk Patent and all the IP offices have tittles with the word patent. Because of this confusion, the name of the Turkish registration office is changed to Turkish Patent and Trademark Institution.
Patent is granted for protection of new inventions. Turkish Patent is the only official government office to grant patent registrations. If we switch to terminology, invention is a new way of solving (by a technical solution) a technological problem even in agriculture. Patent is a legal way to protect your technical solution that is your invention. A registered patent is your property and you have the privilege to make money from your patent by using it or manufacture it or selling it.
The patent registration is valid locally though the novelty of your invention must be global. There is also a misunderstanding here. The legal protection is local based but this does not mean you can apply for patent registration easily. Because your patents could already been registered in a foreign country before your application. So if an inventor who is going to make a patent registration must think twice to make a multinational registration or not.
Why an invention must be registered?

If somebody tries to use or dublicate or reverse engineered your invention, the patent owner has the right to sue the cheater and receive compensation by the sentence of the court.
